How do I download and install Zielfit?

Zielfit is available for free on the Google Play Store for Android devices.

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your Android device
  2. Search for "Zielfit" or click the download button on our website
  3. Tap "Install" and wait for the download to complete
  4. Open the app and follow the initial setup wizard
How do I set up my profile and goals?

Setting up your profile correctly ensures accurate calorie calculations:

  1. Enter your current weight and height
  2. Select your activity level (sedentary to very active)
  3. Choose your goal: lose weight, maintain, or gain weight
  4. The app calculates your daily calorie target automatically

You can update these settings anytime in your profile.

What languages does Zielfit support?

Zielfit currently supports 14 languages including English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Turkish, Arabic, Japanese, Korean, and Chinese. The app automatically detects your device language or you can change it in settings.

Is Zielfit really free?

Yes! Zielfit offers a 100% free version with full calorie tracking, barcode scanner, step counter, weight tracking, and activity logging. Premium features like AI chat assistant, advanced analytics, supplement tracker, and body measurements are available with Zielfit Premium.

How do I log my meals?

There are multiple ways to log food in Zielfit:

  • Barcode Scanner: Scan product barcodes for instant logging
  • Search: Search our database of thousands of foods
  • Quick Add: Manually enter calories and macros
  • Custom Foods: Create and save your own food entries
  • Recent Foods: Quickly re-add foods you've logged before
How are my daily calorie needs calculated?

Zielfit uses scientifically proven formulas to calculate your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE):

  1. We calculate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) based on age, weight, height, and gender
  2. Your BMR is multiplied by an activity factor based on your lifestyle
  3. For weight loss, we create a safe calorie deficit (typically 300-500 calories)
  4. For weight gain, we add a calorie surplus to your TDEE
Can I track macros (protein, carbs, fat)?

Absolutely! Zielfit tracks all macronutrients including protein, carbohydrates, and fat. Your dashboard shows a visual breakdown of your daily macro intake, and you can set custom macro goals in your profile settings. This is perfect for those following specific diets like keto, high-protein, or balanced nutrition plans.

How do I create custom food entries?

Creating custom foods is easy and keeps your entries private:

  1. Go to the food logging section and tap "Create Custom Food"
  2. Enter the food name and serving size
  3. Input the nutritional information (calories, protein, carbs, fat)
  4. Save the food - it will appear in your personal database

Your custom foods are private and secure - only you can see and edit them.

Can I copy meals from previous days?

Yes! Zielfit makes it easy to repeat meals. You can access your food history and quickly copy entire meals or individual items to the current day. This saves time when you eat similar foods regularly. Just tap on a previous day in your diary and select "Copy to Today".

Barcode Scanner

How does the barcode scanner work?

The barcode scanner is the fastest way to log packaged foods:

  1. Tap the barcode icon in the food logging screen
  2. Point your camera at the product barcode
  3. The app instantly recognizes the product and shows nutritional info
  4. Adjust the serving size if needed and tap "Add"

It takes just 2-3 seconds to log a food item!

What if a barcode isn't recognized?

If a product isn't in our database, you can:

  • Create the food manually using the nutrition label
  • The barcode will be linked to your custom entry for future scans
  • Search for a similar product in our database

Our database is constantly growing with millions of products worldwide.

Does the scanner work offline?

The barcode scanner requires an internet connection to look up products in our database. However, products you've scanned before are cached locally, so you can re-scan those even offline. For full functionality, we recommend having a data or WiFi connection.

Which countries' products are supported?

Our barcode database covers products from all major regions including USA, Europe, UK, Australia, Canada, and many more. We have millions of products and the database is continuously updated. Regional and local products may vary in availability, but you can always add them manually.

Weight Tracking

How do I log my weight?

Logging your weight is simple:

  1. Go to the Weight section in the app
  2. Tap "Add Weight" or the + button
  3. Enter your current weight
  4. Optionally add a note (e.g., "after workout")
  5. Save your entry

We recommend weighing yourself at the same time each day for consistency.

How often should I weigh myself?

For best results, we recommend:

  • Daily: Weigh yourself first thing in the morning after using the bathroom
  • Weekly: If daily weighing causes anxiety, once a week is fine
  • Consistency: Same time, same conditions each time

Weight naturally fluctuates 1-3 lbs daily due to water retention, food, and other factors. Focus on the overall trend, not daily changes.

Can I see my weight progress over time?

Yes! Zielfit provides beautiful charts showing your weight trend over time. You can view your progress by week, month, or year. The chart shows your actual measurements plus a trend line to help you see the bigger picture. This makes it easy to track your progress toward your goal weight.

Can I sync with smart scales?

Zielfit integrates with Health Connect on Android, which allows data sync from compatible smart scales and fitness devices. If your scale connects to Health Connect, your weight entries can automatically sync to Zielfit. Check your scale's app settings for Health Connect integration.

Step Counter / Pedometer

How does the step counter work?

Zielfit's built-in pedometer uses your phone's sensors to count steps:

  • Enable step counting in app settings
  • Keep your phone with you throughout the day
  • Steps are automatically counted and displayed on your dashboard
  • View daily, weekly, and monthly step statistics

The pedometer runs in the background with minimal battery impact.

Can I set a daily step goal?

Yes! You can set a custom daily step goal in your profile settings. The default goal is 10,000 steps, which is a common recommendation for general health. The app shows your progress toward your goal and celebrates when you reach it. You can adjust your goal based on your fitness level and lifestyle.

Why are my steps different from other apps?

Step counts may vary between apps due to:

  • Different algorithms for detecting steps
  • Sensitivity settings
  • How the phone is carried (pocket, bag, hand)
  • Whether Health Connect sync is enabled

For most accurate counting, carry your phone in a pocket and enable Health Connect to sync with your fitness tracker.

Does step counting drain my battery?

Zielfit's step counter is optimized for minimal battery usage. It uses your phone's hardware step sensor rather than GPS, which is very energy efficient. Most users notice no significant impact on battery life. If you experience issues, check that battery optimization is disabled for Zielfit in your phone settings.

Activity Tracking

How do I log workouts and activities?

Logging activities helps track your total daily energy expenditure:

  1. Go to the Activity section
  2. Choose from our list of activities (running, cycling, gym, etc.)
  3. Enter the duration of your workout
  4. The app calculates calories burned based on your profile
  5. Save the activity to add it to your daily total
How are exercise calories calculated?

Calorie burn is estimated using:

  • MET values: Each activity has a Metabolic Equivalent value
  • Your weight: Heavier individuals burn more calories
  • Duration: How long you exercised
  • Intensity: Some activities have intensity options

These are estimates - actual calorie burn varies based on individual factors.

Should I eat back my exercise calories?

This depends on your goals:

  • Weight loss: Eat back 50-75% of exercise calories to maintain energy
  • Maintenance: Eat back most exercise calories
  • Muscle gain: Eat back all exercise calories plus your surplus

Listen to your body - if you're hungry and fatigued, you may need to eat more.

Can I connect my fitness tracker?

Yes! Zielfit supports Health Connect integration, which allows syncing with popular fitness trackers and apps like Samsung Health, Fitbit, Garmin, and more. Enable Health Connect in your Zielfit settings and grant the necessary permissions to sync your workouts automatically.

Data Export & Analytics

How do I export my data as CSV?

Exporting your data is simple:

  1. Go to Settings > Data Export
  2. Choose the date range you want to export
  3. Select what data to include (food diary, weight, activities)
  4. Tap "Export CSV"
  5. Save or share the file via email, cloud storage, etc.

Perfect for sharing with coaches, nutritionists, or for your own analysis!

What data can I export?

You can export comprehensive data including:

  • Daily food diary entries with calories and macros
  • Weight history and progress
  • Step count data
  • Activity and exercise logs
  • Water intake (if tracked)

The CSV format opens in Excel, Google Sheets, or any spreadsheet app.

How do I use the Analytics Dashboard?

The Analytics feature (available at zielfit.com/csv/) lets you:

  • Analyze trends in calories, macros, weight, and steps

Is my exported data private?

Yes! Your data is yours. When you export a CSV file, it's saved locally on your device. The web analytics tool processes your data entirely in your browser - no data is sent to our servers. You control who sees your health data at all times.
